Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber

Image
If you liked Twilight then you'll love the Vampire Kisses series. First off, this series has 9 books and each one is better than the last. But personally, the first book has always been my favorite. This book had me laughing out loud. Honestly, while I reading some of the dialogue I started giggling like a loon. My mom was like, "Are you ok?" And I couldn't answer her because it would've taken too long to explain where I was in the book. Talk about #booknerdproblems. But let's jump into the review, shall we >>>>> The Characters: This book has a few characters but the main one is a girl named Raven. Raven is the only goth girl in her town aptly called Dullsville and while she does have 1 best friend (a farm girl named Becky) she's kind of a town outcast because of her cryptic style. But she's got a great sense of humor and doesn't let the haters get her down, especially not Trevor - the most popular boy in school who has ...

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Image
I've never read a book that I wasn't sure if I liked or not until I picked up Sabaa Tahir's "An Ember in the Ashes." Let's just say this story was definitely unlike anything I've ever read - which is one of the main reasons I couldn't put it down. If you're looking for your next YA series that's interesting, intriguing, and action-packed this book is my top pick for you. So let's get into the review, shall we? The Characters The story is told from two points of view, the main characters- Elias and Laia. Laia is part of a people called the Scholars. They are inferior to Elias' group, the Martials, and seem to be the weaker group. That is, until we meet the Scholar Resistance (but that's farther down the line). During a Martial raid Laia watches her grandparents get murdered and her brother arrested. In one night her entire world is lost and she goes to the Scholar Resistance for help, only to find out that the Resistanc...

5 Books to Make You Feel Like A Star

Image
Books are amazing. Let me just state that for the record. They can take you to places you've only imagined or dreamed about. And can even change the way you look at the world around you. But the best kinds of books are the ones that show you how the other half live. The ones that let you be a rock star for a while or a big time movie star. So, with that in mind, here's a list of the 5 books I've read that made me feel like a star. 1. "Guitar Girl" by Sarra Manning Besides the Bible, this book is probably my favorite book. It's funny, it's relatable, and it's about rock stars. What more do you need? It's about a British girl named Molly who starts a band with her friends and shoots to super stardom. The story follows the group as they journey from a little garage band to the big time. Along the way, Molly finds love, heartbreak, and the adventure of a life time. 2. "Diary of a Teenage Girl: Chloe series" by Melody C...

Just One Day by Gayle Forman

Image
A few days ago I was browsing the shelves of my local Books-A-Million, looking for a book that would distract my mind from the mundane things I have to think about every day, and I came across Gayle Forman's "Just One Day." One word in the summary on the back caught my attention right away: Paris. So I decided to give it a try. I mean, the characters spend the day in Paris, France - of course I was going to read it. But I never expected this book to become one of my new favorites.   It made me laugh, tear up a little, and reminisce about my own summer between high school and college. But more importantly, it made me smile. And when a book makes you smile you know you have a favorite on your hands.   So let's jump into my review >>>>>>>>> The Characters: The story is told from the point of view of a girl named Allyson. She's your average, American, good-girl teenager who's been give...

Just One Year by Gayle Forman

Image
When I read "Just One Day" by Gayle Forman (the first book in this 2 - technically 2 part series) I really enjoyed it so of course I had to read the sequel, "Just One Year." And let me tell you I was not disappointed. While "Just One Day" tells the story from Allyson's point of view, "Just One Year" follows Willem's side.   Just like the first novel there's a lot of traveling and pining for someone across the ocean, but following Willem's character development through a whole year was very interesting. Sadly though, I must admit, this was the first book I ever read where I didn't always like the narrator. Willem sometimes came across as a spoiled, womanizing jerk. But the more I kept reading the more I realized he had serious Mommy Issues and definitely didn't cope with his dad's death too well since it spiraled him into taking a 2-3 year journey across Europe.   But anyhoo .... on to the review >>...

Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson

There's almost nothing better than finding a good book to curl up with and if you're looking for one I'd highly recommend "Edenbrooke" by Julianne Donaldson. I found this book while I was scrolling on  www.goodreads.com and I was instantly drawn to the cover. I'm a sucker for all things Jane Austen-esque and historical fiction and this cover promised to deliver. I read the summary and a few of the comments from other readers and decided that I had to read it so. If you're curious about what other readers said about it the Goodreads link is below:   https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12820360-edenbrooke Edenbrooke is about a 17 year old girl named Marianne Daventry who's life changes when she visits a manor in the English countryside called Edenbrooke. Her grandmother sends her there for a visit and she encounters some unexpected twists on the way such as a bumpy carriage ride, a dangerous highwayman, and...
